About Me

My photo
I enjoy spending time with my husband. He's my best friend. I love watching my kids. My girls Emma and Eva are learning, growing and changing every day. Our little boy Benjamin is a joy and has made Bobby happy to not be the only male in the house! I like to soak up every bit of their littleness, but I'm telling you they are getting so big! They are cute. My stepdaughter Eternity has lived here since 2008 and it's a blessing to have her here. A teenager in the house really adds an interesting dynamic. Seriously, she's a good kid. We live on a busier street and we are doing a lot of work in our backyard to make it prettier. I should say Bobby is doing most of the work. I'm usually holding a baby or caring for one of the kids or keeping them out of harms way as Bobby works with manly, heavy tools. Life is busy, but I don't want to miss the special moments that come along every day.

Sarah's Departure

My mother-in-law Sarah arrived to our house from Winnipeg on December 12, 2007. She was here for Christmas with us. She was here when Eva Sarah finally arrived on January 8, 2008. She was here for many more exciting times like my birthday, Emma's 2nd birthday up until yesterday. Yup, she flew back to Winnipeg yesterday. I'm really feeling it today. She was soooo helpful while she was here. She would tidy up toys, tidy up the kitchen, help Emma with meals, cook the occasional pot of soup, and hold Eva. Her time here was invaluable. I knew that it would be an adjustment when she left and I tried to prepare myself. But this is the first day that I've had my 2 children on my own (while Bobby's at work :) It seems really hard and lonely today, but I know that it will get better with time. It was fun to have Sarah here for the company. She has a really good sense of humour and she loves to break out a game of Settler's of Catan any time. Sarah is deaf, so she taught me lots of sign language while she was here. Although that can be somewhat of a language barrier, we got along fine and dandy. Anyways, it's sad to see her go, but we know she was really looking forward to seeing her friends again. So, as much as we will miss her, we are happy and blessed that she was here as long as she was. We'll miss you Sarah! :) See you on the webcam! :)

My Parent's 40th Anniversary

So, back in March, my brother Bill suggested that we throw a party for our parents 40th anniversary. They were married May 25, 1968. 40 years. Wow. It will be 4 for me and Bobby in August. We're 10% of the way to 40 years!! So, we started thinking and decided to have an open house event where people could drop by and say congrats. First things first. Bill 'stole' their phone book and I only kept it 2 days because my mom gets flustered if she doesn't know where it is! So, I wrote down as many names as I could and Bill and I started calling people. Bill managed to 'steal' their wedding album and another family album. But we had no idea where all the other albums were being kept. Eventually, we found them.

Anyways, we asked Ted and Linda, (good friends of my parents) to invite them out to the Botanical Gardens to walk around on the day of the party. But my parents said no because they had already made plans for the Mandarin for the same day and they didn't want to be all tired out from walking around. Well, they don't know what tired is!! We tired them out alright!

Ted and Linda picked them up and told them they were going to go for a drive. So, that's what they did. We didn't have quite enough people yet, so we called Ted and told him to drive around for a while longer. They finally drove in at around 1:30. It was a great surprise!! They had NO idea at all! My mom got all emotional and teary eyed and my dad just looked stunned. I think it took a while for it to sink in for them.

It was a really great time and they got to see many friends. I'm really glad we did it. It was a lot of work, but it was worth it.

Well, that was my day. We didn't end up going to the Mandarin with everyone. We were soooo tired. Bobby, me, Emma and Eva all slept from 4:30-6:30. So, if anyone says, 'You missed a great meal', I will say, 'You missed a great nap!' :)

My first and probably only birdie

This was the first or second time this year that Bobby and I went out golfing together. I was quite excited when I actually accomplished one under par on Hole #6 at The Greens at Brock. It was a monumental moment for me. As a mother of two young girls, I don't get out golfing that often, so once in a while, you might say that 'beginner's luck' kicks in. Anyways, here is my first entry including a picture. :)

First Entry

Emma and Eva

Hi!
I'm just setting up my new blog. This is all very new to me, so I don't really know what I'm doing, to be honest :) But, with a little help from my friends, I'm sure I'll get the hang of it. This is a neat way to keep friends informed and to spill my guts. Although, I don't know how often I will get to do that. Life is pretty busy with my 2 little girls. Anyways, I am going to do some more investigating on here, so I will end this for now.
